The Gicleé Print

Gicleé (zhee-klay) - French word meaning a spray or spurt of liquid.

Gicleé print describes images generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various surfaces such as canvas, watercolor, and photo paper. Giclee printing provides better color accuracy than other printing technologies. Giclee prints are created using professional ink-jet printers, which produce subtly-toned, sharply detailed prints for both fine art and photography.

Giclee prints offer many advantages to the artist. Images are printed on-demand. Once your image is digitally archived, you can order additional reproductions at a reasonable cost and with minimal effort. The high up-front setup cost of offset printing is eliminated. Gicleé images can be reproduced at almost any size and onto various media. The quality of the gicleé print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is now found in museums and galleries.
